St. John the Baptist

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of the Birth of John the Baptist. There are only three birthdays celebrated by the Catholic Church and they are the birthdays of Jesus, Mary, and Saint John the Baptist. This puts into perspective how important this man is to our faith.

Saint John the Baptist teaches us to be humble. He teaches us to point others to Christ alone and not to ourselves. He had no pride. He didn't think much of himself. He just lead others to Christ and got out of the way. He didn't ever talk about himself. He knew what God's plan for him was,
and so he followed it perfectly.

I pray that we can all be more like Saint John the Baptist by being less prideful, less selfish, to do God's will in our lives, and to point others to Christ.

Saint John the Baptist, pray for us.

  1. Hey I thought u were done with this blog! :O Glad u started it again and with an awesome day like today! I wish I could be less selfish in my life, I always feel like I am too concerned about me and what will happen in my life. A lot of times I think I deserve better, then I look at the cross and wonder y I don't have it much worse, if He was treated that way then I deserve much worse treatment! On facebook I found a good quote by Archbishop Sheen that u might like "When John the Baptist saw Our Blessed Lord approaching, he said: 'I must decrease; He must increase.' Herein lies the secret of mental and spiritual stability. It is only by making ourselves little that we become great; it is only by creating an emptiness that Heaven has a place to fill."

  2. Wow, that's a pretty cool quote. Archbishop Sheen is so great. I love his mind. He always seems to take a different perspective than anyone I've ever heard before. He really tells it how it is. (Or should I say told it how it was since he's dead?).

Yeah, I've been crazy busy, and I never spend much time on the Internet. I don't like taking so much time away from time with my Grandma. Makes me feel guilty and awful. You only live once :) So I'm going to live in the moment and take it day by day.
